Selma Blair Released on Bail After Arraignment on Assault Charges in Delta Flight Incident Actress Selma Blair was arraigned on Monday on two felony assault charges after an alleged midair confrontation on a Delta flight. Her lawyer says she missed doses of a medication for neurological symptoms and suffered severe confusion. Actress Selma Blair was released on bail Monday evening after being arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on two felony counts of second-degree assault, following an alleged violent outburst on a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City. Judge Indira Khan set bail at $20,000 in cash, a $60,000 bond, or a partially secured bond. Blair, 54, posted the cash bail and left the courthouse without speaking to reporters. The charges stem from an incident aboard the flight on Sunday. Blair is accused of punching one flight attendant and biting another.Lawyer Claims Blair Missed MedicationShe also allegedly attacked a Port Authority police officer and a nurse while being taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she broke out of her restraints en route, according to authorities. During the arraignment, Blair's attorney, Shawn Barnes, told the court the incident was not intentional. He said Blair had missed several doses of a powerful medication that controls severe neurological symptoms linked to her battle with multiple sclerosis.Barnes also said Blair had been working extensive and exhaustive hours on set in the days before the flight. Barnes added that at one point during the flight, Blair fell and hit her head. He said those factors, combined with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation. The defense argued the situation was a medical crisis, not a deliberate assault.Another lawyer for Blair, Joshua Reitzas, called her the gold standard and someone people should look up to, citing her body of work and what she has done for others. Judge Khan responded that Blair should not get special treatment because she is a celebrity, according to reports. The judge also ordered Blair to keep her distance from the nurse she is accused of attacking.Blair Faces Potential Federal ChargesA criminal complaint reviewed by the New York Post indicated that Blair allegedly kicked at an officer during the incident. Sources said she is also set to face at least one federal violation for assault committed within special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. If convicted of the two state-level assault charges, Blair faces two to seven years behind bars. Blair's film credits include Legally Blonde and Hellboy. She was pictured leaving court on Monday after her arraignment, a day after her arrest. The Daily Mail has reached out to Blair's attorneys and representatives for comment but has not yet received a response. The case remains under investigation as federal charges are expected.
