Deadly Crash in San Jose Leads to DUI Arrest
A juvenile male was arrested for driving under the influence following a fatal traffic collision in San Jose early Sunday morning. The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. near the intersection of Curtner Avenue and the southbound Highway 87 off-ramp.
Details of the Collision
According to the San Jose Police Department, a 2022 Honda Accord, driven by the teen, was traveling westbound on Curtner Avenue. The vehicle collided with a 2003 Chevy Malibu sedan attempting to turn onto eastbound Curtner Avenue from the Highway 87 off-ramp.
Fatalities and Injuries
The driver of the Chevy Malibu, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is currently being withheld by authorities.
The 17-year-old driver of the Honda Accord, along with his adult female passenger, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Charges Filed and Ongoing Investigation
Following his release from the hospital, the juvenile driver was booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. He faces charges of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
“This is the 10th fatal traffic collision in San Jose this year,” stated the San Jose Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
