7-Month-Old Killed in East Williamsburg Shooting

A 7-month-old girl, Kaori Patterson-Moore, was tragically killed on Wednesday afternoon in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, after being struck by a stray bullet. The shooting occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the corner of Humboldt and Moore Streets, according to police.

Fleeing Suspects Crash Moped

Suspects believed to be involved in the shooting crashed a moped moments after the incident. Dramatic video footage shows the two individuals being thrown from the vehicle after colliding with an oncoming car. The crash occurred as they attempted to flee the scene.

Injuries and Arrest

The passenger of the moped sustained a broken leg in the crash and was seen hopping around in pain. The driver was observed retrieving a gun from the scene. The passenger was later taken into custody as a person of interest after seeking treatment at Brooklyn Hospital.

Mother's Heartbreak

The victim’s mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, had taken her children, including Kaori and her 2-year-old brother, into a nearby bodega for safety after hearing gunshots. She discovered Kaori had been struck while checking on her in the stroller.

Distressing Footage

Security footage from inside the bodega captured Charles-Moore’s devastating reaction upon realizing her daughter had been shot. “I was hugging, and then when I looked to my left, my daughter was just there, lying there. She was shot in the head. She was just bleeding. It was just too much,” Charles-Moore told The Post on Wednesday. She also revealed that Kaori had just begun saying “mama.”
