NFL Unveils Pro Flag Football League Plans
The National Football League (NFL) formally revealed its long-anticipated plans yesterday to establish a professional flag football league. This development follows over a year of teasing the concept to the public and media outlets.
The announcement confirmed a strategic partnership with TMRW Sports, the company co-founded by golf superstar Tiger Woods. However, despite this significant collaboration, Woods' name was conspicuously omitted from the official announcement materials.
TMRW Sports Selected for Operational Setup
The NFL stated that TMRW Sports was chosen to assist in setting up the new league's operations. This decision followed what the league described as a “competitive evaluation process.”
The league specifically highlighted TMRW Sports' proven track record, citing its success with the TGL golf league. Both Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are participants in the TGL venture.
Investment and Launch Timeline Details
The new professional flag football league is slated to commence operations sometime in 2028. This timing aligns with the lead-up to the Los Angeles Olympics, where flag football is scheduled to debut as an official sport.
Several major investors are backing this initiative. NFL Equity is committing a substantial $32 million toward the project.
Other institutional investors involved include WME owner Silver Lake. Arctos Partners, which was recently sold by former CAA agent, is also part of the investment structure.
