Arizona Teen Found After Decades Missing
A 13-year-old girl who went missing in Arizona over 30 years ago has been found alive, according to authorities. Christina Marie Plante was recently located following a breakthrough in the case, decades after her disappearance from Star Valley, northeast of Phoenix.
Disappearance in 1994
Christina Marie Plante vanished in May 1994 after leaving her home to visit her horse at a nearby stable. At the time, her disappearance was considered “suspicious,” and authorities stated she was “endangered.” She was described as having blue eyes and blonde hair.
Initial Search Efforts
Missing person flyers were widely distributed, detailing that she was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, multicolored shorts, and black tennis shoes. The Gila County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Plante was entered into national missing children databases and flyers were circulated locally, statewide, and nationally.
Breakthrough and Confirmation
The Sheriff’s Office revealed on Wednesday that the case had a recent breakthrough. Investigators have since confirmed Plante’s identity. The office stated that the case remained open and active over the years, with evidence periodically re-examined and new information pursued.
Privacy Concerns
Authorities are currently withholding further details regarding the circumstances of her discovery. This decision, they stated, is “out of respect for Christina’s privacy and well-being.”
