Lawsuit Alleges Wexner Enabled Epstein's Abuse
Eleven women have filed a lawsuit against billionaire Les Wexner, alleging he enabled the abuse perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein and failed to take action to stop it. The lawsuit claims Wexner provided a New York mansion used in connection with some of the alleged abuse.
Details of the Claims
The plaintiffs allege that Wexner, his foundation, and his company, Nine West, knew – or should have known – about Epstein’s criminal activity. The case is being pursued under New York City’s Gender-Motivated Violence Act, which allows victims to sue those who enabled abusers. The women are seeking both damages and legal fees related to the alleged harm.
Wexner's Response
Les Wexner has denied the allegations, stating the claims lack a factual basis. A spokesperson for Wexner said, “The Wexners have tremendous sympathy for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s horrendous crimes. The complaint, however, fails to state any factual basis for asserting a claim against Mr. Wexner.”
Disputed Allegations
The statement further refuted a claim that Wexner provided Epstein with $200 million over two decades, stating that payments were for legitimate wealth management services. Wexner also maintains he sold a New York townhouse to Epstein in 1998 for $20 million and that Epstein purchased a plane from L Brands at market value.
