Less than twelve months after claiming a massive $167 million Powerball jackpot in Kentucky, 51-year-old James Farthing has been incarcerated again. Farthing is currently being held in Lexington, facing serious allegations including breaking into a residence and allegedly stealing a significant amount of cash.

Criminal Charges Filed
Farthing was taken into custody on Saturday, according to records from the Fayette County Detention Center and court documents. The charges filed against him include second-degree burglary and possession of marijuana.
Alleged Break-in and Theft
An arrest citation issued by the Lexington Police Department details the incident. Security camera footage allegedly captured Farthing entering a Lexington home at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The homeowner reported seeing the suspect on their cameras near a side door. She also stated that she heard a loud noise, suggesting a door had been forcibly opened. Following the unlawful entry, the victim told officers that $12,000 in cash stored at the residence was missing.
Apprehension and Evidence Found
Police located Farthing’s vehicle later that evening in the Red Mile Gaming parking lot. Officers found him inside the facility around 9 p.m. and took him into custody without any reported incident.
During the arrest process, authorities reportedly observed a burnt marijuana blunt inside the ashtray of Farthing's car. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered additional marijuana and several more blunts, according to police statements.

The recent arrest adds to Farthing's ongoing legal issues in Kentucky. He currently has active cases pending in the state.
These existing cases include a charge for a hit-and-run incident in Fayette County. Furthermore, he is facing an intimidation charge stemming from Scott County.
