Jen Shah Reflects on Prison Experience
Jen Shah, recently released from prison in December and currently on home confinement, has spoken about her time incarcerated alongside high-profile figures Elizabeth Holmes and Ghislaine Maxwell. Shah, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, shared her observations in an interview with People magazine.
Shah Expresses Remorse for Her Crimes
Shah stated she is “remorseful and sorry for my actions and for my part.” She acknowledged making “wrong decisions” and emphasized her acceptance of full responsibility for her involvement in defrauding elderly people of their retirement funds. During her trial, Shah had claimed she was misled by a business partner.
Unexpected Bond with Elizabeth Holmes
“Poop Duty” and Shared Experiences
Shah described forming a friendship with Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos. She explained that as fellow high-profile prisoners, they naturally connected. The two even shared the unpleasant task of “poop duty” together.
Shah detailed the task, explaining, “After use the bathroom, you have to get up, go inspect it, and either clean it if they don’t or tell them to come back and clean it.” She added that repeated violations resulted in more hours assigned to the duty, describing it as “a thing.”
Ghislaine Maxwell’s Lack of Remorse
Observing Maxwell’s Reaction to Epstein Files
Shah recounted a specific incident involving Ghislaine Maxwell during a viewing of news coverage regarding the release of the Epstein files. According to Shah, Maxwell “made it very publicly known, at least to Elizabeth and I, that there is no remorse there.”
Shah expressed her discomfort with Maxwell’s dismissive attitude towards the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, stating, “To see that kind of behavior when there are real victims and to see what they went through, and to be so dismissive of that, that did not sit with me the right way.”
Friendship with Holmes
Shah confirmed that she and Holmes, whom she refers to as “Lizzie,” remain friends. She emphasized their connection, stating, “Lizzie and I are good friends.”
