Jeff McNeil's Frustration Boils Over

Former New York Mets player Jeff McNeil audibly swore into a live microphone after striking out in the ninth inning for the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. The expletive was reportedly loud enough to be heard, according to reports, even by astronauts on the Artemis II mission.

Incident Details: A's vs. Braves

The outburst occurred during the Athletics’ 5-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves. McNeil, batting against Braves closer Raisel Iglesias, tipped a 2-2 slider that landed directly in the glove of Braves catcher Drake Baldwin for the final out.

The Expletive

McNeil let out a clear “F–k!” immediately after the play. It’s believed the frustration extended beyond the single out, reflecting his overall performance with the team.

Early Season Struggles for McNeil and the A's

Through his first five games with the Athletics, McNeil is batting .077, with only one hit in 13 at-bats. He went hitless in two at-bats as a pinch hitter on Wednesday.

Team Performance

The Athletics have also experienced a difficult start to the 2026 season, winning only one of their first six games. Their sole victory came against the Braves on March 31.

Previous Incident and Offseason Trade

This isn't the first time McNeil has been caught using profanity after a strikeout. A similar incident occurred during a game against the Texas Rangers at Citi Field. McNeil, a two-time MLB All-Star, was traded to the Athletics during the offseason in exchange for pitching prospect Yordan Rodríguez.
