*Community* Movie Closer to Reality, Says Donald Glover

Donald Glover has offered fans the most encouraging news yet regarding the highly anticipated Community movie. The actor and creator recently confirmed the project is actively moving forward, addressing years of speculation and anticipation.

Glover Confirms Active Development

“We’re working on it right now,” Glover told Entertainment Tonight. “I know everybody’s been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I’m not lying about this. I really think that something is gonna happen soon.” He attributed previous delays to his own schedule, reassuring fans that production isn't stalled due to his commitments.

Cast Remains Engaged

Active Group Chat

Glover revealed the original cast remains actively involved in discussions about the movie. He described a lively group chat where they frequently communicate, stating it’s “pretty lovey dovey,” though coordinating schedules across different time zones can be challenging. “when you’re on the other side of the world, you will wake up to 83 messages.”

Confirmed Cast and Creative Team

Peacock officially ordered the feature film in 2022, securing the return of the core cast including Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong. Yvette Nicole Brown also confirmed her participation in October 2024, with the script being reworked to include her character, Shirley.

The screenplay is being written by series creator Dan Harmon and former show writer Andrew Guest. The project also received a boost in 2024, benefiting from $51.6 million in California film and TV tax credits as part of a larger package of 19 projects.

A Long-Awaited Revival

The original Community sitcom aired for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, initially on NBC and later on Yahoo Screen. The upcoming movie promises a return to Greendale Community College for the beloved characters and a continuation of their story.
