By the end of Season 4 of The Boys, Homelander has achieved unprecedented control, commanding Vought, influencing the U.S. government through President Steven Calhoun, and leading a legally sanctioned force of supes. The Boys, formerly his primary adversaries, are now on the run.
Sister Sage's Rise to Power
This ascent wasn’t accidental. Sister Sage, portrayed by Susan Heyward, has been instrumental in Homelander’s success. Her intelligence and strategic foresight have made her invaluable – and potentially, his greatest threat.
A Mindset Unlike Any Other
According to Heyward, Sister Sage’s defining characteristic is her fearlessness. “Well, I think one of the fun things about playing Sister Sage is the lack of fear for Homelander,” she stated. “Of course, the mortal desire to stay alive is in there somewhere, but when we find her at the beginning of season four, she’s kind of signed off of life.”
Heyward further explained, “She’s kind of signed off of risk… and has nothing to lose. She’s finally in the game of power. And she has absolutely nothing to lose.” This contrasts sharply with opponents like Billy Butcher and the Boys, who rely on physical force.
Prepared for Any Outcome
Sister Sage’s calm demeanor stems from her preparedness. As Heyward described, “Worst comes to work, he lasers her head. Okay. I really do think part of her calm heartbeat is knowing that she has a plan and knowing what she wants and knowing that she’s already gone farther than anyone else would’ve given her the opportunity to.”
She concluded, “So let’s see what happens.”
Season 5 Premiere Date
