Absolute Batman Gets Board Game Adaptation
The world of Absolute Batman is expanding beyond comic books with an upcoming board game adaptation. This project will bring the popular storyline to a new audience through a miniatures board game format.
Part of Batman: Gotham City Chronicles Season 4
The Absolute Batman adaptation is set to be part of Season 4 of Batman: Gotham City Chronicles. The game, described as an “asymmetric miniatures board game for 2 to 4 players,” pits Heroes against Villains in handcrafted scenarios across Gotham City.
What to Expect from the Expansion
The expansion will introduce the Absolute Universe into the game, featuring reworked versions of Gotham City and its characters. Early previews reveal that Alfred Pennyworth and Black Mask will be included, alongside multiple enemy units associated with Black Mask’s faction.
Vertical Gameplay and Game Modes
A key feature of the expansion is its emphasis on vertical gameplay. Scenarios will unfold across multiple levels, allowing players to position characters on rooftops, inside buildings, and at street level. The content will support competitive, solo, and cooperative modes.
Availability and Reprints
The expansion requires the base Batman: Gotham City Chronicles game, which will be made available again during the Gamefound crowdfunding campaign later this year. Season 4 will also include reprints of the core game and previous expansions, making the game more accessible to new players.
Inspired by the Comic Run
The board game adaptation draws from the ongoing Absolute Batman comic run, led by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta. It presents a revised interpretation of Gotham and its iconic characters. Further details about the expansion are expected closer to the campaign launch.
