Reports suggest that Blake Lively will not be attending Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce, scheduled for June 13th at Swift’s Rhode Island estate. The news comes amid a cooling of the decade-long friendship between the two stars.
Friendship Strain Linked to Legal Battle
The shift in their relationship reportedly began as Lively pursued a high-stakes lawsuit against her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. Private texts between Swift and Lively, revealed during the discovery process of the lawsuit, indicated a growing distance between them as early as December 2024.
Texts Reveal Growing Distance
In the texts, Swift expressed feeling a “shift” in Lively’s communication and acknowledged the all-consuming nature of Lively’s legal issues. Swift wrote, “I think I’m just exhausted in every avenue of my life…and had been feeling a little bit of a shift in the way you talk to me.” She then requested Lively to “come back, please.”
Wedding Plans and Guest List
Swift and Kelce are aiming for a relatively intimate wedding with approximately 150 guests, according to Us Weekly. The festivities are expected to be split between Swift’s $18 million mansion and the nearby Ocean House, a five-star resort. The couple reportedly “feel confident” in their ability to maintain privacy at the Rhode Island location.
Confirmed Guests
Expected attendees include Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone, the Haim sisters, Zoë Kravitz, Patrick Mahomes, Miles Teller, and Kelce’s brother Jason and sister-in-law Kylie. Sources indicate assembling the guest list has been “a bit tricky” as Swift and Kelce initially considered both a large and small-scale event.
Background of the Dispute
Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment on the set of “It Ends With Us” and retaliation. Baldoni has denied the allegations and filed a countersuit, which was later dismissed. A trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 18th.
Prior to the legal dispute, Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were close friends with Swift. Reynolds’ daughter’s voice was featured on Swift’s song “Gorgeous” in 2017, and Swift confirmed in July 2024 that she was godmother to all of Lively’s four children.
