CB Bucknor's Difficult Week Continues
MLB umpire CB Bucknor experienced a challenging week on the field, culminating in an injury during Wednesday’s game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers. Bucknor, 63, was forced to leave the game after being hit by a foul tip while officiating as the home plate umpire.
Foul Ball Incident in Milwaukee
The incident occurred in the top of the second inning at American Family Field in Milwaukee. A 100 mph pitch from Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski to Rays catcher Nick Fortes was fouled back, striking Bucknor in the facemask.
Bucknor immediately went to his knees in apparent distress. A Brewers trainer attended to him before he left the field.

Overturned Calls on Tuesday
This incident followed a game on Tuesday night where Bucknor faced criticism for several incorrect calls. While serving as the first base umpire, he initially ruled that Brewers player Jake Bauers missed first base.
Milwaukee challenged the call, and it was quickly overturned after review. Both Brewers manager Pat Murphy and Rays manager Kevin Cash reacted with amusement to the reversal.
Further Reversals in the Sixth Inning
Bucknor also had two strike-three calls overturned on consecutive pitches to Eugenio Suarez in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game. The initial calls were challenged and ultimately reversed by replay officials.
