The Five Kittens Who Lost Their Lives
A man in Alabama was arrested after he allegedly threw five kittens out of his car while driving on a busy highway. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 30 , when the Homewood Police Department received multiple reports of a person throwing kittens from a moving vehicle on I-65.
Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, but tragically, all five of the kittens were struck and killed on the intrstate by other vehicles.
The Homewood Police Department takes animal abuse and cruelty calls very seriously and would like to thank the witnesses and motorists who contacted Homewood 911 and provided information to Homewood Police Officers on scene.
The department also uploaded a photo of Liccione's mugshot, which shows him donning a serious expression as he looked straight into the camera .
A Familiar Pattern of Road Rage
A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly chased down a vehicle with four people in it and opened fire during a road rage incident .
Nicolas Andrew Totherow was arrested on April 29 and was charged with attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
In a separate incident, a man in Florida was arrested after he allgeedly opened fire on a car full of teenagers during a scary road rage incident.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said that Ruben Rodriguez Heredia was involved in a road rage incident on Wednesday, December 17, that began at the intersection of State Road 16 and Interstate 295 .
The victims were not injured, but the incident is still under investigation.
The Consequences of Cruelty to Animals
In the state of Alabama, those found guilty of aggravated cruelty to animals can be sentenced to serve between one and 10 years in prison and might have to pay a fine of up to $15,000.
To be found guilty of the charge,it must be proven that the defendant was intentionally torturing an animal by inflicting prolonged pain, gross physical abuse or severe injury, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
