Shooting Incident in West Philadelphia

Police reported a violent shooting incident on the 300 block of South 60th Street in West Philadelphia. The event resulted in two fatalities and left three other individuals injured.

Authorities confirmed that some of the victims were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment. As of the latest update, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The city has experienced a notable decrease in homicides so far this year compared to the same period in 2023. Early reports from Monday indicate that 21 homicides have been recorded in Philadelphia this year, a significant drop from the 50 homicides reported by this time last year.

This recent decline in deadly violence marks a departure from the trends observed in previous years. In 2021, the city recorded 120 homicides by March 30, eventually reaching a record-high total of 562 homicides by the end of that year.
