A tragic incident early Tuesday morning in Anaheim resulted in the deaths of two individuals following a collision involving multiple vehicles. The crash took place just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Anaheim Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue. Police Activity Preceding the Collision
Erratic Driving Observed Near Police Patrol
According to Sergeant Matt Sutter, an officer initially observed a silver Infiniti sedan driving erratically near Cypress Street and Harbor Boulevard. This location is just a short distance from where the subsequent crash occurred.
Sutter stated that officers attempted to initiate an enforcement stop on the vehicle. However, the driver reportedly turned off the lights and accelerated away. Sergeant Sutter confirmed that officers did not maintain a pursuit of the fleeing vehicle.
Eyewitness Antonio Castaneda reported seeing police near the vehicle before hearing the sound of the loud crash. Despite this observation, police maintained that they were not actively pursuing the car when the accident happened.
Fatalities and Injuries Reported
Moments after police lost sight of the erratic driver, the silver sedan collided with three other vehicles at the nearby intersection. Two fatalities were confirmed as a result of this multi-car accident.
- One person killed was the front right passenger inside the silver Infiniti sedan.
- The second fatality was identified as an innocent driver of a red Toyota Camry at the scene, described only as an adult male.
Three other occupants who were inside the Infiniti sedan sustained critical injuries. The extent of injuries for occupants in the other vehicles was not detailed.
