In a twisted tale of two cannibals, Bern Brandes and Wojciech Stempniewicz met their eventual killers online, driven by morbid fantasies that would ultimately seal their fates. In 2001, Brandes met Armin Meiwes on the 'Cannibal Cafe' website, a platform for people with a cannibalism fetish. Brandes, a telecommunications engineer from Berlin, was looking for someone to kill and eat him, and Meiwes, a computer repair technician, had posted an advert seeking the same. The pair drove to Meiwes' home, where they set up video equipment to film the act.Armin Meiwes Convicted of MurderBrandes had requested his genitals be cut off and eaten together, but the plan went awry, and Meiwes ended up killing Brandes and cutting off his body parts. The killing was discovered in 2002, and Meiwes was convicted of murder in 2006. A decade later, Wojciech Stempniewicz, a Polish businessman, met his killer online, Detlev Guenzel, on a website for torture and bondage.Stempniewicz, 59, nurtured fantasies of being killed and eaten and trawled the internet for an entire year before finding a willing predator. Guenzel collected Stempniewicz from a bus station in Dresden and drove him to his B&B in the Erzgebirge Mountains. Once inside, he strangled Stempniewicz and cut him into small pieces while listening to pop music.
