President Trump Addresses Nation on Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump delivered a primetime address to the American public, asserting that the United States is nearing the completion of its core strategic objectives in the conflict with Iran. He also cautioned about the possibility of further escalation in the ongoing situation.
Military Gains and Degradation of Iranian Forces
Targeting Iran as a State Sponsor of Terrorism
Trump stated the US military has achieved “rapid and decisive victories on the battlefield” over the past four weeks, targeting Iran, which he described as “the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.” He emphasized that the United States is “winning more than ever today.”
The President claimed significant degradation of Iranian military capabilities. “The Iranian navy has disappeared,” he stated, adding that the regime’s air force is now in a state of “total destruction.”
Criticism of Iranian Leadership and Threats
Decades of Hostility
Trump criticized Iran’s leadership, accusing the “fanatical regime” of chanting “death to America and Israel” for 47 years. He asserted that the US is “on the cusp of ending Iran’s sinister threat to America and the world.”
Potential for Further Strikes
He warned of intensified military action in the coming weeks, stating, “We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks… we are going to take them back to the stone ages where they belong.” Trump clarified that regime change was not the initial goal, but occurred following the death of Iran’s leader.
The President also warned of potential strikes on critical infrastructure if no agreement is reached, saying, “If no deal is reached, we are going to hit every one of their electric generating plants very hard, and probably simultaneously.”
Call for Global Action and Regional Alliances
Securing the Strait of Hormuz
Trump urged other nations to take responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz, which he said had been disrupted. He called on countries importing Gulf oil to “go to the strait and just take it, protect it,” and to “build up some delayed courage.”
Acknowledging Allied Support
He expressed gratitude to regional allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, for their support, stating, “They’ve been great, and we will not let them fail in any way, shape, or form.”
Domestic Concerns and Fuel Prices
Trump acknowledged concerns over rising fuel prices in the United States, attributing the increase to Iranian attacks on oil tankers. He described the price increase as temporary, stating, “We are gonna finish the job. We are getting very close.”
