The 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) opened on Sept. 10 and runs until Sept. 20, 2026, with 293 titles in the festival's official selection. The festival features a long list of A-listers expected in attendance, including Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cynthia Erivo, Helen Mirren, Lea Seydoux, Channing Tatum and Michelle Yeoh. The program includes an intimate Making Waves With event featuring Hudson Williams, plus In Conversation With sessions with Lee Min-ho, Chris Rock, Rachel Morrison and Andrew Scott. Industry talents will be honoured at the TIFF Tribute Awards on Sept. 13.Mahershala Ali stars in Bassim Tariq's Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, a thriller following Latif, a devout Muslim, family man and contract killer in Texas. It has a premium screening on Sept. 12 at 9:30 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz co-star in Bunker, a psychological thriller about a couple whose bond is tested when a mysterious billionaire enters their lives.Its North American premiere screens Sept. 14 at 9:30 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall. Curry Barker returns to TIFF to celebrate the success of his breakout horror film Obsession, which grossed more than $500 million worldwide.He appears for DIAGLOGUES, a conversation with Inde Navarrette, on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at the Metro Convention Centre, followed by an Obsession screening at 6:30 p.m. Jay Baruchel attends the world premiere of The Stunt Driver, a comedy about Ken Carter, a Canadian stuntman. Willem Dafoe is expected for the Canadian premiere of Tenzing, a biopic about Himalayan Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, one of the first to top Mount Everest in 1953, screening Sept. 15 at 9:30 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall.Lily-Rose Depp is expected on the red carpet for the international premiere of Alpha Gang, a sci-fi comedy with a star-studded cast, screening Sept. 13 at 9:30 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Zooey Deschanel is expected for the world premiere of Trash Mountain, set in rural Missouri where two siblings grapple with the death of their hoarder father, on Sept. 11 at 5:45 p.m. at the Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond Street.Ayo Edebiri is appearing in the film Clarissa. Luke Evans attended the premiere of The Housewife in a silky shirt and wide-leg pants look by Chinese fashion house Mithridate, while his co-star also attended the same premiere at Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre. Sebastian Stan attended the premiere of Fjord in a handsome double-breasted suit over a white crewneck T-shirt.Megan Rapinoe attended the premiere of Rapinoe, a documentary about the soccer star's athletic career and activism, in an oversized suit with a red cummerbund and feathered brooch.
