A 31-year-old woman, Kaitlyn Rose Laura, has been arrested in Tarrant County, Texas, and is facing serious felony charges related to alleged medical child abuse. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest on Wednesday, detailing accusations of injury to a child and Medicaid fraud.
Details of the Allegations
Laura has been booked into the Tarrant County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. She is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators allege that Laura subjected a child to unnecessary medical treatments.
Investigation into Medicaid Fraud and GoFundMe Accounts
The investigation expanded to include potential Medicaid fraud due to the unnecessary medical treatments. Detectives discovered that Laura allegedly created at least three separate GoFundMe accounts. These accounts were used to solicit donations for herself and for purported medical expenses related to the child’s health.

Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn emphasized the severity of the case, stating, “The medical abuse of a child is a horrific crime.” He further explained that these cases are often complex and can be overlooked, but his office remains dedicated to protecting children.
