Sabres Center Suffers Injury in On-Ice Altercation

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick exited Tuesday night’s 4-3 win against the New York Islanders with an injury to his left arm. The injury occurred during a fight with Islanders captain Anders Lee.

Details of the Incident

The fight began immediately following the faceoff at the start of the third period. Carrick threw punches with his right hand, but his left arm became entangled in Lee’s jersey at an awkward angle. He was taken down to the ice and landed heavily.

Carrick's Condition and Team Response

Carrick remained on the ice in visible pain before being helped off the ice and into the locker room. Sabres coach Phil Ruff stated, “It’ll be evaluated and we’ll see tomorrow exactly what that is.”

Carrick's Recent Performance

Prior to the injury, Carrick had been a productive player for the Sabres, scoring five goals and adding one assist in his first 12 games with the team. Earlier in the season, he recorded four goals and six assists in 60 games with the New York Rangers.
