Deadly Drone Attacks Across Ukraine

At least five people were killed and a postal terminal was destroyed in a series of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine overnight and into Wednesday, according to Ukrainian officials.

Postal Terminal Severely Damaged

A warehouse belonging to Nova Poshta, a Ukrainian mailing company, in the western city of Lutsk, sustained significant damage. Images released by the company show the warehouse engulfed in flames with thick smoke billowing from the roof.

Zelenskyy Condemns Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the attacks on Facebook, stating, “We proposed a ceasefire for Easter, in response, we’re getting ‘shaheds.’” He was referring to the Iranian-designed drones utilized by Russia in the attacks.

Regional Impacts and Casualties

Four people were killed by a Russian drone strike in the central Cherkasy region. This was part of a broader attack targeting infrastructure in western Ukraine, areas relatively distant from the main fighting.

In the frontline Kherson region, an earlier drone strike on a vehicle resulted in one fatality and left two individuals seriously injured, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian Claims of Territorial Gains

Russia has simultaneously increased pressure on the eastern front, claiming to have captured two villages in eastern Ukraine and asserting full control over the Lugansk region. This claim follows a period where the region was already almost entirely occupied.

Frontline Situation 'Quite Tense'

President Zelenskyy described the situation on the front lines as “quite tense” in a separate social media update.

Diplomatic Efforts Resume

Zelenskyy is scheduled to participate in a video conference with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of resuming negotiations with Russia. These negotiations have been stalled due to the ongoing war.

“Today will be a pretty busy diplomatic day,” Zelenskyy stated.
