Woman Arrested After Beechwood Shots Fired Incident

A woman in Rochester, New York, faces serious weapon charges following an incident involving gunfire early Monday morning. The arrest occurred after police investigated reports of shots being discharged in the city's Beechwood area.

Authorities were alerted to the situation via a ShotSpotter notification. The alert directed officers to the vicinity of Garson Avenue, near Webster Avenue, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Investigation Leads to Traffic Stop

Upon arrival, officers confirmed that gunfire had taken place at the initial location. Fortunately, reports indicated that the discharged bullets did not strike any individuals or damage any property.

Police then began searching for a suspect vehicle related to the incident. Approximately one mile away, officers successfully conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Main and Scio Streets.

Discovery of Weapon and Children

During the stop, law enforcement discovered the driver, identified as a woman in her thirties, in possession of a handgun. Crucially, two children, aged eight and ten years old, were also present inside the vehicle at the time.

The driver was subsequently taken into custody. She has been formally charged with several offenses stemming from the discovery.

Criminal Charges Filed

The charges filed against the woman include criminal possession of a weapon. Additional charges involve the prohibited use of a weapon and endangerment of a child's welfare.

Other Local Incidents Reported Monday

Separately, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed that no serious injuries resulted from a separate incident on Monday. That event involved a collision on Interstate 590 that included 11 vehicles.
