Razer has officially introduced its inaugural keyboard featuring a split and curved ergonomic configuration: the Pro Type Ergo. This new wireless keyboard is positioned as a premium productivity tool, priced at $189.99.
Ergonomic Design for Enhanced Comfort
A Focus on Natural Positioning
The Pro Type Ergo is designed to align with the natural resting posture of the user's arms and hands, thanks to its curved layout. This design aims to maximize comfort during extended work sessions.
Innovative Key Placement
A key feature is the strategic placement of keys to reduce strain. The split design incorporates dual "B" keys and an additional backspace key situated between dual space bars.
This arrangement allows both thumbs to manage frequent actions more comfortably, thereby minimizing unnecessary finger crossover and reaching.
Productivity-Focused Features
Customizable Controls
The keyboard is equipped with Razer Command Dials, one located in each corner, allowing users to assign up to eight distinct functions. Furthermore, a vertical array of five customizable macro keys sits on the left side.
The functionality of these macro keys dynamically adapts based on the application currently in use, boosting workflow efficiency.
AI Integration and Key Feel
On the right side, above the number pad, there is a dedicated button for instantly launching Razer’s AI Prompt Master application. The keys themselves are ultra-low-profile, laser-etched ABS with a fingertip-shaped design.
Sound-dampening layers are integrated beneath the keys to ensure quieter operation, preventing coworker distraction.
Connectivity and Adjustability
Physical Adjustments
Prioritizing user comfort, the Pro Type Ergo includes a padded wrist rest that is permanently attached. The key arrangement sits at a 10-degree slope, which can be further customized.
Users can adjust the front or rear tilt by up to seven degrees to perfectly match their preferred typing angle.
Wireless Versatility
The Ergo supports connections to up to five devices simultaneously. Connectivity options include three Bluetooth channels, one 2.4Ghz HyperSpeed Wireless link, and a wired connection via USB-C.
Battery life is rated for up to three months on a full charge, though this duration is subject to variation based on the connection method used.
Comparison to Predecessor
The Pro Type Ergo is slightly more expensive than the standard Pro Type Ultra, which launched in 2021 for $159.99. Despite being marketed for productivity, the new model retains Razer's signature customizable LED lighting across 19 zones, which can be disabled if preferred.
