Unprovoked Attack in Jackson Heights
A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized following a violent encounter with a stranger in Queens on Monday evening. According to police reports released on Tuesday, the incident occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. on 34th Avenue near 82nd Street in Jackson Heights.
Details of the Confrontation
Authorities stated that the attacker approached the teenager and asked, “What set?,” a common inquiry regarding gang affiliation. When the victim informed the man that he was not part of any gang, the situation escalated rapidly.
Assault and Injuries
The assailant proceeded to punch the teenager before attacking him with a kitchen knife. The victim sustained stab wounds to his upper right shoulder and lower right torso. Following the assault, the victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he remains in stable condition.
Ongoing Investigation
The victim reportedly did not know his attacker. As of Tuesday morning, the suspect remained at large, and police are continuing their search for the individual who fled the scene immediately after the assault.
