Pacific Avenue to Acquire Care.com in Strategic Deal
Manhattan Beach-based private equity firm Pacific Avenue Capital Partners has announced an agreement to acquire Care.com from IAC Inc. The acquisition will see Pacific Avenue take ownership of the digital marketplace for caregiving services.
Transaction Details and Timeline
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized during the first half of 2026. Pacific Avenue stated the investment will be used to enhance Care.com’s product development, forge new partnerships, and improve the platform’s overall functionality.
Statements from Leadership
Brad Wilson, Chief Executive of Care.com, emphasized the importance of caregiving. He stated, “Caregiving is foundational to how families live and how businesses operate.” Wilson added that the partnership will strengthen support for families and caregivers, while also addressing caregiving as a workforce issue for employers.
Care.com’s History and Services
Care.com was founded in 2006 by Sheila Lirio Marcelo, who was motivated by her own experiences finding care for her children and aging parents. The platform provides access to a wide range of care services, including child care, senior care, pet care, and housekeeping.
Care.com also operates as an enterprise benefits platform, partnering with employers to offer care-related benefits. These benefits include access to the Care.com platform, backup care solutions (in-home, in-center, and through camps/activities), and broader care support services.
Pacific Avenue’s Investment Strategy
Chris Sznewajs, founder and managing partner of Pacific Avenue, highlighted the firm’s expertise in corporate carve-outs. He stated, “The transaction aligns perfectly with Pacific Avenue’s track record of executing corporate carve-outs to acquire market-leading businesses.”
Focus on Growth
Sznewajs believes Care.com is well-positioned for growth as an independent company. Pacific Avenue, established in 2018, focuses on middle-market corporate divestitures, utilizing operational improvements, capital investment, and growth strategies.
Care.com was initially acquired by IAC in 2020 for $500 million. Information for this article was sourced from Pacific Avenue Capital Partners.
