A man from Middletown, Pennsylvania, has been arrested on multiple charges following a reckless driving incident that culminated in a crash on the Penn State University campus. Lower Swatara Township police issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on March 23rd and took him into custody on March 25th.

High-Speed Chase Details

According to an affidavit obtained by CBS 21, the incident occurred on September 30, 2025. The suspect, identified as Lugo, was traveling eastbound on I-283 when police attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Reckless Driving and Near Misses

Lugo allegedly reached speeds exceeding 125 miles per hour while fleeing from officers, passing numerous other vehicles. He narrowly avoided colliding with a parked car while attempting a right turn onto Spruce Street.

Crash and Flight from the Scene

The pursuit ended when Lugo reportedly struck a curb on North Catherine Street, causing him to crash onto the Penn State University campus. Following the crash, Lugo fled the scene on foot.

Evidence Found in Vehicle

A relative of Lugo contacted police, stating he had admitted to crashing her vehicle and leaving it in a field. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a six-pack of Yuengling beer, with four empty bottles found on the passenger seat and floorboard.

Additional Charges Filed

In addition to the initial charges, Lugo is now facing five further charges, including careless driving and driving with a suspended license. The Lower Swatara Township police confirmed these charges in a news release.
