Gucci Announces First Exhibition with Demna
Gucci is set to present its inaugural exhibition curated by Demna during Milan Design Week. The exhibition will be held at the historic Chiostri di San Simpliciano and will be open to the public from April 21 to April 26.
Exhibition Details and Preview
A dedicated press preview of the exhibition is scheduled for April 20. Gucci stated that the exhibition will offer a symbolic retelling of the house’s 105-year history, reflecting its many facets, transformations, and creative expressions.
A Narrative Bridging Past and Present
The exhibition aims to provide an immersive experience for visitors. According to Gucci, it “invites visitors to experience an immersive narrative that bridges past and present.”
Demna's Recent Work with Gucci
This exhibition follows Demna’s “La Famiglia” collection and the film “The Tiger,” featuring Demi Moore, Edward Norton, and Ed Harris, which were presented in September. His first runway show for the fall season under Gucci took place in Milan in February.
Previous Collaboration: “Bamboo Encounters”
Prior to this, Gucci showcased “Bamboo Encounters,” an exhibition that highlighted the cultural significance of bamboo – a signature element of the brand – through reinterpretations by various artists and designers.
Milan Design Week Anticipations
The international furniture and design trade show, Salone del Mobile, will run concurrently with the exhibition from April 21 to 26. Organizers anticipate approximately 300,000 attendees at the Rho fairgrounds.
Design Week and Fuorisalone, also taking place simultaneously, are projected to attract around 500,000 visitors to Milan.
