North Park Murder-Suicide Investigation Concludes

San Diego police have identified the individuals involved in a murder-suicide that occurred on March 23rd at a home on San Marcos Avenue in the North Park neighborhood. The victims have been named as Virginia Sherwood, 83, and her son, Galen Sherwood, 51.

Details of the Incident

According to Acting Lt. Christopher Leahy of the San Diego Police Department, Galen Sherwood is suspected of shooting his mother. The incident took place near the intersection of San Marcos Avenue and Kalmia Street.

Initial Police Response

Officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots coming from the residence. Upon arrival, they discovered Galen Sherwood on the porch with a gunshot wound to the head. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated.

Victims Found and Pronounced Dead

Galen Sherwood was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Inside the home, officers found Virginia Sherwood with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene before medical personnel could arrive.
