Meta is significantly advancing its wearable technology portfolio by introducing two new models of AI-powered smart glasses explicitly engineered for individuals requiring prescription eyewear. These new devices are the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and the Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2).

These updated smart glasses mark a major step in merging sophisticated technology with everyday corrective lenses. They are built to accommodate nearly all prescription types while ensuring superior comfort for extended daily use. This focus highlights Meta's dedication to making smart eyewear both functional and aesthetically pleasing for all-day wear.

Enhanced Design and Prescription Integration

Tailored Comfort for Daily Wearers

The primary design goal for these new models was maximizing comfort for users who rely on glasses constantly. The hardware is engineered with overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and optician-adjustable temple tips.

These customization options allow opticians to precisely tailor the frames to the unique contours of an individual's face. This tailored fit is crucial for improving comfort, especially for those wearing corrective lenses for long durations throughout the day.

New Frame Styles and Aesthetics

The Blayzer model features a distinct rectangular frame and will be offered in both Standard and Large sizing options. Conversely, the Scriber model presents a more rounded design, appealing to a broader range of aesthetic preferences.

Meta is also refreshing its existing Ray-Ban Meta collection with updated colors and lens combinations to align with current fashion trends. For example, the Skyler frame will feature Shiny Transparent Peach with Transitions Brown lenses. The Headliner frame is getting Matte Transparent Peach with Transitions Grey lenses, and the Wayfarer will come in Shiny Transparent Grey with Transitions Sapphire lenses.

Furthermore, Oakley Meta glasses are receiving updates, including Vanguard Black with Prizm Black lenses and Vanguard White with Prizm Rose Gold lenses. Transition-enabled lenses and sport-focused configurations are also being introduced across the Vanguard and HSTN styles.

Next-Generation AI and Software Features

Hands-Free Assistance and Health Tracking

A central component of Meta's strategy remains the integration of advanced AI features that utilize voice and camera inputs for seamless, hands-free interaction. A notable new capability is the nutrition tracking feature.

Users can now log meals effortlessly by speaking or taking a quick photo, allowing Meta's AI to process the input, extract nutritional data, and integrate it into a food log. The system is designed to learn user habits and provide personalized health insights over time.

Information Recall and Future Development

Meta is also rolling out WhatsApp summaries and recall features powered by its AI system. This functionality is intended to help users easily revisit important information, enhancing the overall user experience.

The company asserts that these new glasses represent their most comfortable design to date, intended for all-day use. Meta is also actively developing a feature referred to as Neural Handwriting, though specific details about this capability have not yet been revealed.

Availability and Pricing

The Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2) are set to launch with a starting price of $499 in the United States. Pre-orders are currently open online for interested consumers.

Wider commercial availability is scheduled to begin on April 14th. At that time, the glasses will be accessible through optical retailers and in select international markets, broadening access to this new generation of smart eyewear.
