Megan Thee Stallion was taken to a hospital after experiencing illness during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway Tuesday night. The Grammy Award-winning rapper exited the stage mid-performance after feeling unwell.

Cause of Illness Identified

Doctors diagnosed Megan Thee Stallion with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels, according to her spokesperson. She was subsequently discharged and is currently resting.

Rapper Shares Experience on Social Media

Megan Thee Stallion addressed the incident in a post on Instagram, stating, “Last night was a real wake-up call for me.” She explained she had been “pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough.”

She further shared, “I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t.” She expressed being “scared” by the experience.

Performance Continues with Understudy

An understudy stepped in to complete Tuesday night’s performance, ensuring the show continued at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Officials briefly paused the show to address the audience and ask them to remain seated during the transition.

Return to Stage Planned

Megan Thee Stallion has canceled Wednesday’s matinee and evening performances to focus on rest and recovery. She plans to return to the stage on Thursday, stating, “I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve.”

Broadway Debut and Role

Megan Thee Stallion recently made her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, taking on the role of Harold Zidler. This marks the first time a woman has portrayed the character, previously played by Boy George, Wayne Brady, Tituss Burgess, and Bob the Drag Queen.

Her performances include renditions of her hit songs “Savage” and “Body.” Celebrities such as Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish have attended recent shows. Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, also confirmed the hospitalization on X.
