Patchogue-Medford School District officials confirmed an ongoing investigation after a man was observed engaging in inappropriate behavior on the grounds of Eagle Elementary School over the weekend. The district immediately launched an inquiry upon discovering the incident.

First Incident and District Response

In a community letter issued Monday, Patchogue-Medford Interim Superintendent of Schools Lori Cannetti detailed the initial event. Security personnel observed the man exposing himself on Sunday, March 29, and directed him to leave the premises.

The district promptly reviewed its security footage spanning Sunday and previous days. This review uncovered a second, similar incident involving the same individual near school grounds on Saturday, March 21.

Law Enforcement Involvement and Location Details

Following the discovery of both occurrences, the district notified the Suffolk County Police Department. Eagle Elementary School is situated on Wave Avenue in Medford, surrounded by several residential streets.

Superintendent Cannetti affirmed the district's commitment, stating, "The district is fully cooperating with law enforcement." She added that the primary focus remains on student safety: "The safety and security of our school community remain our highest priority."

Status of Investigation and Security Measures

Suffolk County police confirmed they are actively investigating the two instances of public exposure that took place at the elementary school. Importantly, neither the school district nor law enforcement reported any students being present on school grounds during either incident.

To enhance safety this coming weekend, the district plans to implement additional security measures at Eagle Elementary School. Officials are urging the public to report any suspicious activity directly to the Suffolk County police. As of the latest update, no arrest has been made, and the investigation remains active.
