Logan Nissley, recognized as one of Nebraska Women's Basketball's premier three-point threats, has officially confirmed her return for her senior campaign in Lincoln. The 6-foot junior guard made the announcement via a personal Instagram post on Monday, committing to the Huskers for the 2026-27 season.
Nissley's Journey and Commitment to Lincoln
Nissley joined the Huskers in 2023 after transferring from North Dakota. She arrived highly touted, having been a three-time state player of the year and rated as the No. 91 overall player in the Class of 2023.
In her social media confirmation, Nissley expressed her enthusiasm, writing, "Right where I wanna be. One year left with the best team, place, fans, and people!"
Progression Under Coach Williams
Under Coach Amy Williams, Nissley's role has consistently expanded over her three years with the program. As a freshman during the 2023-24 season, she participated in all 35 games, securing 10 starts during the final stretch.
Following her freshman year, where she earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors, Nissley became a consistent starter in the backcourt for the 2024-25 season. Although injuries impacted her junior year, her overall contribution remains significant.
Key Career Statistics and Shooting Improvement
Across 97 appearances, Nissley has started 55 games for Nebraska. Her career averages stand at 7.6 points per game, shooting 40.8% from the field and 39.8% from beyond the arc.
Her scoring saw a notable jump despite facing injury challenges as a junior. She added nearly two points per game to her average, improving her overall field goal percentage from 36% as a sophomore to 46% last season.
Elite Three-Point Shooting Streaks
Nissley maintained her status as one of the Big Ten's top outside shooters. Her three-point accuracy rose from 36% (55 made triples) in her sophomore year to an impressive 43% (65 made triples) as a junior.
Furthermore, she maintains an 83% career free throw percentage and contributes nearly two rebounds and two assists per game.
Impact on the 2024-25 Season Success
Nissley's enhanced scoring presence was crucial in balancing the offense, particularly during the team's initial 10-game winning streak. She delivered strong performances in key conference matchups.
These included scoring 22 points in a contest against Maryland, and contributing 15 points apiece in an 81-75 home victory over Illinois and an 80-76 road defeat at Oregon.
Nissley previously highlighted the team's strength in depth during a December press conference. She stated, "We've said that our depth is our superpower. Knowing that everyone on our roster is capable... that just makes us better."
NCAA Tournament Experience and Future Record Chasing
Nissley's scoring helped guide Nebraska to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The team secured a First Four win against Richmond before falling to Baylor in the opening round.
Reflecting on the tournament run after the 67-62 loss to Baylor on March 20, Nissley noted the value of the shared moments. "I can just say, the feeling never gets old... It's tough when the outcome isn't what we want and what we've worked for. There's a lot of learning that comes with it," she said.
Climbing the Husker Record Books
The returning guard is currently ranked sixth all-time in Nebraska history with 179 career three-pointers made. She needs just five more to surpass Yvonne Turner's 183 and enter the top five.
Nissley will likely target former teammate Jaz Shelley's 244 made three-pointers as she aims for a top-four spot in the record books.
Roster Implications for the 2026-27 Season
Nissley's decision provides stability for Coach Williams' upcoming roster, marking one of the first major return confirmations. This comes as Jessica Petrie reportedly plans to enter the transfer portal following the offseason conclusion on April 6.
Her return helps solidify the guard rotation following the graduation of players like Hailey Weaver, Eliza Maupin, and Callin Hake. Several underclassmen guards are also set to return, including Britt Prince, Emily Fisher, Claire Johnson, Kennadi Williams, and Alanna Neale.
