Large and chaotic crowd at Bridgeport Speedway causes emergency alerts on Sunday Some residents in the region received an Emergency Alert on their phones that announced a dispersal order for Bridgeport Speedway on Sunday evening. NBC10 was on the scene at around 7 p.m. to find that the crowd had dispersed from the Bridgeport Speedway after an Emergency Alert was issued. Some residents in the Philadelphia region received an Emergency Alert on their phones that announced a dispersal order for Bridgeport Speedway in Logan Township on Sunday evening. Some residents also reported only receiving an Emergency Alert saying that the dispersal order had been lifted. The alerts were a result of a large and chaotic crowd that gathered an"Import Expo" Car and Music Fest at the South Jersey venue.Veliz said that so many people went to the event that he had to park a 40-minute walk away. "It was just lines and lines of people walking, bringing coolers, everything," he said."Once we got into the gate, there was people breaking fences down to get in, climbing over them."Kathy Thorne, a neighbor, said that it would have been nice if they got a heads up before the major event. "Just next time, I think it would be nice if they touch base," she said."If they made a post and say, 'Hey guys, we’re gonna have this here and we would like the parking to be here. Do the neighbors mind?' I didn’t mind, she didn’t mind, but just on a good note.” The owner of the Bridgeport Speedway took to Facebook to apologize for the incident and said the first step the business took was to work with police to shut down Floodgate Road and turn people away. The owner said that strategy seemed to work until people began parking farther away and walking to the event. That is when they began the process of shutting down the event. No
