King Charles III landed in Bermuda on Friday, continuing his royal schedule after a four-day state visit to the United States.

Arrival in Bermuda

The monarch arrived at L.F. Wade International Airport aboard the UK government’s VIP Airbus A321neo. Both the Royal Standard and the Bermuda flag were displayed on the aircraft’s cockpit window.

Upon disembarking, King Charles was greeted by Bermuda’s Governor, Andrew Murdoch, and Premier David Burt, along with his wife Kristin, and other dignitaries. He briefly gestured toward his watch, acknowledging his busy itinerary.

Royal Salute

A royal salute was performed by the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR), who formed a guard of honour. The RBR, celebrating its 60th anniversary, has the Duchess of Gloucester as its Colonel-in-Chief.

The King departed the airport in a modest convoy of 10 cars, accompanied by eight police motorbikes and a single police car. Queen Camilla had returned to the UK following an engagement in Virginia on Thursday.

US State Visit Highlights

The visit to Bermuda follows a highly successful state visit to the US, during which President Donald Trump lauded King Charles as “the greatest King.”

President Trump announced the removal of whisky tariffs in the King’s honor, a change previously sought by many. The Scottish and UK governments had been actively lobbying for this outcome.

Tribute at Arlington Cemetery

King Charles paid tribute to fallen service members during a visit to Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. He and Queen Camilla were greeted with a 21-gun salute and performances of both national anthems.

The royal couple laid a wreath and a posy at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring the UK-US military partnership. The Tomb has served as a final resting place for unidentified American service members since 1921, including 32 British servicemen.

Upcoming Engagements in Bermuda

During his time in Bermuda, King Charles is scheduled to meet with young people and conservation leaders. He will also celebrate the island’s heritage and arts and open the new Great Bay Coast Guard Station.
