King Charles III began his visit to Bermuda on Friday, immediately following a highly successful four-day state visit to the United States.

Arrival in Bermuda

The monarch arrived at L.F. Wade International Airport aboard the UK government’s VIP Airbus A321neo, displaying both the Royal Standard and the Bermuda flag. He was greeted by Bermuda’s Governor, Andrew Murdoch, and Premier David Burt, along with his wife Kristin, and other dignitaries.

A royal salute was performed by the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR), who formed a guard of honor. The RBR, celebrating its 60th anniversary, has the Duchess of Gloucester as its Colonel-in-Chief.

Ceremonial Welcome Planned

A full ceremonial welcome, including a 21-gun salute, is scheduled for Saturday morning at King’s Square. The arrival ceremony on Friday was described as relatively low-key.

US State Visit Highlights

King Charles traveled to Bermuda alone after Queen Camilla returned to the UK on Thursday. His visit to the US was lauded as a triumph, with President Donald Trump praising him as “the greatest King.”

President Trump also announced on his Truth Social platform that he would remove whisky tariffs in honor of the King and Queen, a change long advocated for by the Scottish and UK governments.

“Both the President and First Lady couldn’t have been more lovely and hospitable. It’s been a wonderful visit,” a royal insider told the Daily Mail.

Arlington National Cemetery Visit

On Thursday, King Charles paid tribute to fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. He and Queen Camilla were greeted with a 21-gun salute and performances of both national anthems.

The royal couple laid a wreath and a posy at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring the nation’s war dead and the UK-US military partnership. The cemetery also holds the remains of 32 British servicemen, highlighting the strong historical ties between the two nations.
