Strategic Beauty Deal Completed

Kering and L’Oréal have officially finalized their €4 billion beauty agreement. The transaction received the necessary approval from competition authorities, as confirmed by both companies on Tuesday.

The deal encompasses the acquisition of Kering Beauté, which includes the House of Creed. Furthermore, it establishes a framework for beauty and fragrance licensing across Kering’s portfolio of brands.

Long-Term Licensing for Gucci

A key component of the agreement grants L’Oréal the rights to a 50-year exclusive license. This partnership covers the creation, development, and distribution of beauty and fragrance products for Gucci, beginning once current licensing arrangements expire.

Beyond this acquisition, the two entities announced they are continuing to explore collaborative opportunities within the wellness and longevity sectors through a joint venture.

Leadership Perspectives

Kering CEO Luca de Meo highlighted the strategic importance of the move. He stated that by utilizing L’Oréal’s expertise, Kering is entering a new phase of acceleration for its iconic houses to fully realize their potential in the beauty category.

Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal Group, emphasized the significance of the partnership. He noted that building on the success of Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, this step strengthens L’Oréal's position as a global leader in luxury beauty and unlocks immense growth potential for the brands involved.
