The Kansas City Royals paused before their Monday home opener against the Minnesota Twins to pay a poignant tribute to the late Terrance Gore. A sold-out crowd of 39,320 fans at Kauffman Stadium observed a moment of silence for the former outfielder and pinch-runner.

Remembering a World Series Champion

Gore was a vital part of the Royals team that captured the World Series title in 2015. He spent five of his eight major league seasons in Kansas City, where he excelled as a pinch-running specialist.

Career Highlights and Other Honors

Throughout his regular-season career, Gore successfully stole 43 bases while being caught only nine times. He also contributed significantly in the postseason, swiping five bases across six attempts.

Gore’s MLB career also included stints with the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves. He concluded his playing career with the New York Mets in 2022, having also been part of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series-winning team.

The Braves organization also honored Gore on Saturday in Atlanta, with members of the Gore family present for their moment of remembrance.

Emotional Tribute with Family Present

Royals General Manager J.J. Picollo expressed the team's sorrow, stating, “It’s such a tragic thing to lose a guy at 34 years old.” He added that the tribute was the least the organization could do for Gore’s family.

Following the moment of silence, Terrance Gore’s wife, Britney, and their three children were welcomed onto the field. Picollo greeted the family, presenting Britney with a bouquet of flowers and holding the youngest child, Skylyn.

The First Pitch Ceremony

The focus then shifted to the mound as the Gore family joined Royals Hall of Famer Alex Gordon, Gore’s former teammate. Zane, Gore’s oldest son, delivered the ceremonial first pitch to Gordon.

Picollo noted the special connection, mentioning that Zane was running around the field and that the players were deeply involved with Gore’s youth team. Gore tragically passed away in February due to complications following what was described as a routine appendectomy procedure.
