Joe and Melissa Gorga recently opened up about the surprising reconciliation with Teresa Giudice as anticipation builds for the upcoming fifteenth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ).

Joe Gorga's Initial Reaction to Reconciliation News

Joe Gorga admitted he was just as shocked as the fanbase when he learned about the potential reunion with his sister. Speaking on the "Casual Chaos" podcast on Tuesday, March 31, the 51-year-old shared his confusion.

“I was like, ‘Is this real? This is my sister.’ I was very confused,” Joe stated on the podcast. Podcast host Gia Giudice, Joe's niece, humorously suggested that her uncle thought he “saw a ghost” upon receiving the text message from his mother.

Processing the Shift in Dynamics

Joe recalled that it took him a moment for the news to fully sink in. However, he confirmed he responded immediately because maintaining a relationship with his sister is important to him.

“I answered her right away. That's exactly what I wanted, because it's not me. I always want her in my life,” he explained. He acknowledged that Teresa had needed space due to personal struggles, stating, “But she pushed me away, and she had to. She had rights. Whatever she was going through in life, and I can't blame her, because she went through a lot of things in life.”

Moving Forward Without Past Conflicts

The moment of reconnection was significant for Joe. He emphasized a commitment to leaving past issues behind them.

“It was a great moment to receive that text,” Joe continued. “When we met it was just like, ‘Listen, I love you. I don't want to hear nothing. … I don't even care. It's over. Let's move on.’ And that's what we have to do. Move on.” He stressed that they are now older, smarter, and more mature.

Melissa Gorga's Perspective and Filming Speculation

Melissa Gorga, also present on the podcast episode, shared that she felt initially “nervous” about meeting Teresa.

In contrast, Joe expressed only happiness, stating, “I have no anger inside me. I just wanted to make up. I don't care, it's over.” He added, “I wasn't nervous. I was just happy. Let's all get together.”

The couple addressed rumors suggesting the reconciliation was solely motivated by returning to film RHONJ. Melissa firmly denied this notion, asserting, “We're not good at putting on a show, because we all just, like, spit it out.”

The news that RHONJ would return for Season 15, featuring Melissa, Teresa, and Dolores Catania, was officially announced on March 24.

This announcement occurred while Joe and Melissa were in the process of recording their podcast with Gia. Upon hearing the confirmation, Melissa exclaimed, “Thank you, Jesus.”
