Indiana Man Apprehended After Stolen Truck Incident
An Indiana man is now facing numerous charges following his arrest in Evansville, Indiana. The incident involved the alleged theft of a Bud Light delivery truck and a subsequent pursuit involving local law enforcement.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Randall Baker, was taken into custody after the dramatic events unfolded on the afternoon of the arrest. Authorities were alerted after Baker allegedly took the truck from a local liquor store around 3:00 p.m.
Police Pursuit and Crash Details
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office initiated efforts to stop the vehicle after Baker reportedly refused to comply with orders to pull over. Deputies deployed stop sticks in an attempt to safely terminate the chase, according to official reports.
The pursuit concluded when Baker allegedly maneuvered the stolen truck into a sheriff's patrol cruiser, causing a collision. Following this impact, the truck ultimately crashed into a nearby field, the report detailed.
Apprehension and Medical Findings
Fortunately, the deputy involved in the collision sustained no injuries during the incident, as reported by WFIE.
After the crash, Baker reportedly resisted arrest by refusing to exit the vehicle. Deputies were compelled to deploy PepperBall rounds to successfully remove him from the truck cab.
Following his removal, the suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. Deputies later confirmed that Baker's blood alcohol content (BAC) registered at .103 at the time of testing.
