Immigration authorities have placed a detainer on Tarsem Singh, a 33-year-old Indian national, following a high-speed crash in Darke County, Ohio. Singh is facing multiple felony charges in connection with the incident that claimed the life of 17-year-old Ashlee Holmes and her unborn child.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from local news service, the crash occurred on State Route 47 when Singh allegedly failed to stop for law enforcement and fled at a high rate of speed. Deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.
High-Speed Pursuit and Collision
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office stated that a deputy observed Singh’s 2022 Range Rover Velar traveling at a high speed. Cruiser camera footage reportedly showed the SUV crossing the center line and colliding with a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 35-year-old woman from Union City, Indiana.
Fatalities and Injuries
Ashlee Holmes, a passenger in Singh’s vehicle, was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. Singh sustained injuries and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. He was taken into custody following the incident.
Relationship to the Victim
Authorities have confirmed that Singh was the father of the unborn child Holmes was carrying. A relative of Holmes stated, “I tried my best to make sure she had a good life for her and her sister. We did, my brother and I, did a lot of firsts with her that our parents weren’t able to do with them.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has confirmed the placement of an immigration detainer, ensuring Singh remains in custody for potential deportation proceedings after the criminal case is resolved.
