Hundreds of high-end dual-fuel ranges made by AGA and La Cornue are being recalled in Canada after a missing component could allow gas to leak from an affected range connected to a supply. The recall notice, posted Thursday, says the affected ranges retail for between $10,000 and $20,000. Each range may be missing a gas manifold testing component. The notice says the part is not needed for the ranges to operate, but it is important during installation.The recall applies to six model numbers under the AGA and La Cornue brands. For the listed model numbers, every colour variation, trim option, burner configuration and gas type is potentially impacted. The AGA Mercury model AMC48DF is listed as a 122-centimetre, or 48-inch, range with double oven doors. The AGA Elise model AEL481DF is also listed at 122 centimetres, or 48 inches, with double oven doors.The La Cornue CornuFé model LAC1 is listed with various sizes. The notice states that all affected units were made between March 19, 2025, and July 24, 2026. A gas leak is possible from a range missing the testing component if it is connected to a gas supply. Owners should therefore stop using the affected range and shut off its gas supply immediately as a precaution.After disconnecting the range, owners should contact the manufacturer to arrange an inspection. The manufacturer can then determine whether repair is needed and carry out the work. The manufacturer is U.K.-based AGA Rangemaster Limited. The company said that, as of about a month ago, it had not received any reports in Canada or the United States of incidents or injuries involving the recalled ranges.AGA Rangemaster reported that 261 units were sold in Canada and 3,992 were sold in the United States. That is 4,253 units sold across the two countries. The recall information identifies the affected products by model number. Consumers should compare the model number on their range with the models named in the notice.The recall applies regardless of colour, trim, burner configuration or gas type for those listed model numbers. The possible hazard arises when an affected range is connected to a gas supply and the missing gas manifold testing component was not present during installation. The notice does not say that every recalled range has caused a leak, and the company reported no incidents or injuries as of about a month ago.
