Homicide Suspect Back in Custody
A homicide suspect who was mistakenly released from an East Bay jail in October is now back in custody after being located in Missouri. Isaiah Andrews, 20, of Kent, Washington, had been on the run for five months following the error.
Initial Arrest and Mistaken Release
Isaiah Andrews was arrested on October 18, 2025, in Antioch, California, by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest followed a three-day investigation into the murder of Theodore Wheeler, 20, in Northern Seattle.
Five Months as a Fugitive
Despite his arrest, Andrews was mistakenly released from custody just three days later. This allowed him to remain at large for approximately five months.
Apprehension by U.S. Marshals
The United States Marshals Service successfully located and arrested Andrews without incident in St. Louis, Missouri. Authorities have confirmed the arrest was made without any resistance from the suspect.
Extradition to Washington State
Andrews is now awaiting extradition to Seattle, Washington, where he will face a warrant for first-degree murder. He will be transferred to Washington to answer charges related to the death of Theodore Wheeler.
