Governor Dunleavy Aide Charged with DUI
Forrest Wolfe, who serves as an aide to Governor Mike Dunleavy, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) on Thursday evening in Juneau. Following his arrest, Wolfe was booked into the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Wolfe was subsequently released after posting $500 in bail. A spokesperson for Governor Dunleavy declined to provide an immediate comment regarding the incident.
Details of the Traffic Stop
According to a Juneau police officer, the stop occurred downtown at approximately 10:30 p.m. The officer observed Wolfe operating a red Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in a dangerous manner.
The vehicle nearly caused an accident in a busy vicinity close to local bars, restaurants, and the Alaska State Capitol building. Wolfe reportedly smelled of alcohol at the scene.
Sobriety Tests and Legal Limits
Police stated that Wolfe provided conflicting accounts regarding his recent activities and subsequently ceased answering questions from the officers. He allegedly performed poorly on required field sobriety tests administered at the location.
A subsequent test indicated that Wolfe's breath alcohol level registered at 0.10 percent. This measurement is above Alaska's legal limit for driving under the influence, which is set at 0.08 percent.
Wolfe's Professional Background
In a brief phone conversation, Wolfe declined to offer any comment concerning the allegations made against him.
Prior to joining the Governor's executive office staff, Wolfe held positions within the Department of Administration. He also previously served as a legislative aide. Furthermore, Wolfe was a Republican candidate seeking an Anchorage state House seat in the 2022 election cycle.
