New York, NY – Changes are coming to ‘Good Morning America Weekend’ as anchor Janai Norman is leaving the show. The news was reported by Status on Wednesday.
Norman's Departure from ABC
Norman joined ABC News in 2022 as a co-anchor alongside Whit Johnson and Gio Benitez. Prior to this role, she interned with ABC during college in 2011 and was hired as a reporter based in Washington D.C. in 2016. According to reports, Norman’s contract expired and was not renewed by the network.
The exact date of Norman’s departure remains unclear, as does whether she will be replaced or continue with ABC News. A network spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by Status and The Daily Beast.
Bundy Case Finally Closed with DNA Evidence
In a separate development, DNA testing has definitively linked serial killer Ted Bundy to the 1974 murder of Laura Ann Aime, a 17-year-old girl from Utah. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office announced the breakthrough on Wednesday.
Decades-Old Mystery Solved
Although Bundy confessed to the murder before his execution in 1989, conclusive DNA evidence was lacking until now. Advanced DNA technology, applied to evidence preserved from the case since 2023, allowed investigators to extract and match a male DNA profile to Bundy.
“We’ve had the desire to deliver to you some type of healing, we can’t really say closure,” Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Reynolds stated, addressing Aime’s family. Aime was last seen at a party on Halloween night and found dead less than a month later.
