Frontier Flight Delayed: Women Arrested Over Bag Fee
Three women were arrested at Miami International Airport after refusing to pay a carry-on bag fee on a Frontier Airlines flight destined for Philadelphia. The incident on January 23rd resulted in a one-hour delay and multiple criminal charges.
The Initial Confrontation
The dispute began when an airline employee requested payment for an additional carry-on bag from Nafisa Dockery, 30, Dionjana Cochran, 21, and Davana Cochran, 26. The women reportedly ignored the employee’s instructions and warnings regarding the baggage fee.
Escalation and Boarding Area Trespass
According to arrest reports, Dockery allegedly instructed the other two women to disregard the employee and proceed to board the aircraft, entering a restricted boarding area. Airline management then cancelled their boarding passes and requested assistance from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
Arrest and Charges
Deputies asked the women to leave the plane, but they refused to comply, receiving multiple warnings. Following their refusal, all other passengers were disembarked before authorities attempted to remove the three women.
Resisting Arrest and Battery Allegations
During the removal process, Nafisa Dockery is alleged to have spat on another individual, resulting in a battery charge. All three women resisted arrest, leading to a physical struggle with law enforcement.
Each woman faces charges of trespassing after warning and resisting an officer without violence. Dockery also faces a battery charge. Bail was set at $4,000 for Dockery and Dionjana Cochran, and $2,000 for Davana Cochran, according to jail records.
Airline Policy and Consequences
Frontier Airlines, like many budget carriers, charges fees for carry-on bags exceeding size or weight allowances. This incident highlights the potential for disputes over airline policies to escalate into legal issues.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to airline regulations and cooperating with law enforcement. Passengers are encouraged to be aware of airline policies to avoid potential legal and financial consequences.
