A disagreement regarding a carry-on bag fee resulted in the arrest of three women and a flight delay at Miami International Airport on a Frontier Airlines flight bound for Philadelphia.
Incident at Miami International Airport
Authorities have charged Nafisa Dockery, 30, Dionjana Cochran, 21, and Davana Cochran, 26, with trespassing and resisting arrest following their refusal to comply with airline staff and law enforcement. The incident caused a significant disruption to travel plans.
Escalation of the Dispute
The situation began when an airline employee requested the women pay an additional fee for a carry-on bag. After refusing to pay, the women were informed they could be removed from the flight. According to arrest reports, Nafisa Dockery allegedly told the others to ignore the employee’s request.
The women then proceeded to board the aircraft and entered a restricted area, defying the employee’s instructions. This prompted a Frontier manager to cancel their boarding passes and request their removal.
Arrest and Flight Delay
Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the scene. Despite repeated warnings to exit the plane, the women refused to comply, leading to all other passengers being deplaned. During their removal, Nafisa Dockery allegedly spat on another individual.
The women resisted instructions to place their hands behind their backs, resulting in a physical struggle. All three were subsequently arrested and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The flight was delayed for approximately one hour.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Nafisa Dockery faces charges of trespassing after warning, resisting an officer without violence, and battery. Dionjana Cochran and Davana Cochran are each charged with trespassing after warning and resisting an officer without violence. Bond was set at $4,000 for Dockery and Cochran, and $2,000 for Davana Cochran.
The case underscores the importance of adhering to airline policies and law enforcement directives, and the potential consequences of non-compliance. The legal process will determine the outcome of the charges.
