Lionsgate is bringing audiences back to terrifying heights with Fall 2, officially slated for release on August 7, 2026. The sequel to the 2022 hit survival thriller will arrive in theaters four years after the original.
New Story, New Heights
Fall 2 will feature a completely new story and cast, unconnected to the events of the first film. The plot centers around two friends attempting a plank walk on Mount Kwan in Thailand as a way to cope with grief. Their challenge takes a perilous turn when a rockslide leaves them stranded on a fragile plank 3,000 feet in the air.
Filmmakers and Production
The Spierig Brothers, known for their work on Jigsaw and Predestination, will direct Fall 2. Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, the writers of the original Fall, have penned the script for the sequel.
Original Film's Success
The original Fall, released on August 11, 2022, was a surprising success, earning $18 million on a modest $3 million budget. Tea Shop Productions co-founder James Harris attributed the film’s success to word-of-mouth, noting the lack of a significant marketing campaign.
Franchise Expansion
The strong performance of the first film has led to the development of not only Fall 2 but also a confirmed third installment, Fall 3. Scott Mann is set to return as director for Fall 3.
Rating and Technology
Producers utilized deepfake technology to alter dialogue and secure a PG-13 rating for Fall 2. They believed an R-rating would limit the film’s box office potential and hinder the possibility of future sequels.
