Euless Residents to Vote on Charter Amendments
The City of Euless is seeking voter approval for 20 amendments to the City Charter in a May election. These proposed changes, designated Propositions A-T, are intended to update provisions that haven’t been revised since 1995.
Purpose of the Charter Amendment Election
The primary goal of this election is to bring the Euless City Charter into alignment with current state law. Additionally, the amendments address provisions that are outdated or lack clarity.
Key Proposed Amendments
- Proposition B: City Streets and Public Property – Updates language for improved clarity and consistency.
- Proposition C: Boundaries – Clarifies that changes to city boundaries must adhere to state law, such as annexation.
- Proposition E: City Council Qualifications – Sets minimum qualifications for City Council members to align with state law and prohibits holding incompatible public office.

- Proposition I: City Boards – Reaffirms City Council’s authority to create and appoint members to boards and commissions.

Additional Updates
Several amendments address personnel matters, including the City Manager, City Secretary, and City Attorney. These updates allow for employment agreements outlining duties and terms of employment, aligning with standard practices.
The proposed changes also update procedures for appointing municipal judges and court staff to match current state law and city procedures. Furthermore, they allow for everyday procedures like purchasing and permits to be governed by state law or local ordinances.
Election Details
Election Day is scheduled for May 2, 2024. Early voting will be available from Monday, April 20, to Tuesday, April 28. Voters can approve or disapprove of each proposition individually. More information is available on the City of Euless website.
